Year In Review

For my last Post of this great season I would like to continue on with the Celebrating of Festivus. It is time for my Airing of Grievances with each of you about this season.  

I will rate you all on my Scale of Disappointment about your performance in this year's K&S Tourney.  The scale is 1 – 10 with a 1 being no disappointment and a 10 being quite the embarrassment. Let's start at the bottom of the standings and work toward the top.

-7- BadNewz (I'd Rather be Fishin) – I really expected a challenge from BadNewz this year after a strong rookie campaign I thought the sophomore season would produce money for BadNewz. I guess he really lost it when he forgot that you have to pick games before Sunday. The positive is that I really like the name, it makes me think of the movie Gone Fishin which is a personal favorite.

 

-3- Stapleton – Year after year I am impressed by Stapleton finishing strong. He often times has to fight an uphill battle but never gives up. I like that because I never get to see Stapleton or talk to him but seeing that he makes picks week after week let's me know that things are still much the same. Keep fighting.

 

-3- Chief Red Beard – I am really impressed with what Red Beard did this season, making picks and all. Red Beard has signed up for this tournament many times but has never completed a season until now. So, for actually making a commitment and keeping it we are not disappointed at all with Red Beard's performance, he was actually in contention until late in the season.

 

-5- SeaHawks – I am pretty sure that married life has taken a toll on Pipkin's NFL time. The final nail in the coffin was a 6 point Week 16. I expect that this is another fact of married life as Week 16 was right around the height of Festivus season and all the family and friend obligations. Maybe Pipkin can figure out how to catch some more NFL study time next season.

 

-5- BigDaniel – Another sophomore who had some big pre-season expectations but ultimately finished out of the money. Going into the final stretch of the regular season BigDaniel had a great shot to medal this year then he faded and let others surpass him. There was a great improvement in actually entering his picks but you have to get them right for it to matter.

 

-6- PresK – I simply expect a founding father to perform like he knows what's going on, and PresK didn't for most of the season. Despite an impressive late season run nothing can make us forget seeing PresK's name at the bottom of the standings for the first half of the year. I know I speak on behalf of the entire K&S family when I say that we expect a lot better from PresK next year. 

 

-2- Scrappy – After many years with no harvest, Uncle Matty finally finished in the money. This just proves that if you something long enough you can get good at it. Matt was clutch the entire second half of the season with 10 or more points 7 of the final 8 weeks of the year. We might have a new threat on our hands.

 

-3- Perry – Another year with Perry collecting money after the season. The only reason there is any disappointment here is because contenders like Perry don't sign up to make friends. You play to win the game and finishing 5 points behind the leader simply won't cut it. A couple better weeks in the early part of the season and things could have been a lot different.

 

-10- Longhorns (Puddin) – You might not have known this but Puddin wasn't exactly a real part of the K&S Tourney this year. We gave him the "student discount" and let him stay in the Yahoo! Group but as far as the competition was concerned he didn't exactly pay his dues. So, since Puddin missed a great chance to double his money because he was too cheap to pay the entry fee he is my greatest disappointment this year. I think Puddin will be the first to pay next season.

 

-0- The Chairman – I get a 0 on the disappointment scale since I met every goal that was set for me this season. Each season I believe you will win if you can average 10 points a week. Check. Each season I want to do better than last year. Check. Each season I want to lead early-on, in the middle of the year, and mostly at the end. Check. So, there is no disappointment with my performance this year.

 

As this season closes remember that there is nothing like the K&S Football Tourney.

We have really enjoyed this year. You guys are the greatest. Let us know what we can do to make this better for next year.
