Well, since it is a Holiday week with Turkey Day only days away, I wanted to post early. The Monday night game will affect the results as 7 of us picked the Packers to beat the Saints and 3 had it the other way with New Orleans beating Green Bay. Depending how tomorrow goes at work, I might post a comment or edit the post to include the updated results.
So, it was a pretty good week for most of you. If the Pack end of winning tonight then I'd rather be fishin will take home the weekly winner award. However, if it goes the other way then bigdawgsfan and Scrappy will have the weekly honor with a total of 13.
For me this week, it was about taking risks and picking teams that I thought might be able to squeeze out a win. For example, I had the Detroit Lions over the Bucs - I was the only person with this pick by the way. In the first quarter this pick was looking pretty good as the Lions had a 14-0 lead. However, in football you have to play 4 quarters (shockingly?!) and the Lions couldn't get over the hump. By the end of the half, I believe the Buccaneers took over the lead and never looked back. Dern!
Against my better judgement and hoping on some luck I was one of two participants to go with the home team to beat the New England Patriots. I tell you what, Matt Cassel is going to get some big bank at the end of this season. My question is can he survive and be a successful QB on any other team. Well, Miami lost against its arch Nemesis and I lost a point. I'm down two.
I did make a smart pick by choosing the Houston Texans to stomp Brady Quinn, his broken finger and the rest of the Browns. Only Mr. Scrappy Coldiron shared this victory with me.
I took Philly over Baltimore. This game was a toss up among the crowd with 6 of you picking the Ravens and the remaining four picking the Eagles. Well, we all heard the story after the game. Are McNabb's days numbered in Philly? Feel free to post a comment and share your thoughts.
I had San Diego to beat Peyton Manning, but you can't leave Manning a 90 seconds in the fourth quarter. Chief Red Beard and I shared a cry when Vanderjack made the winning field goal.
Getting away from me and my risky picks, let's take a look at the Pick of the Week. Bigdawgsfan was the only person to go with magical Favre and the NY J-E-T-S to give the Titans its first lost of the season. Champagne was flowing down in Miami and Daniel was drinking to a +1.
Besides my horrendous picks, Stapleton tried to get a point up with the upset pick of the Arizona Cardinals over the SuperBowl champs NY Giants. Well, NY enjoyed its visit back to Phoenix reminiscing the game winning drive to become the greatest football team of the year in 2007 season.
So, the week low right now is me with 8. If GB wins then I'll share this with Chief Red Beard. However, I could have the lowest score by two if the Saints pull it out. Not too much will change in the overall standings with this week.
Enjoy your Thanksgiving and be thankful for the many blessings God has shared with you. Here at K&S we wish you safe travels and fun family times. Thank you for your participation this season and for your support year after year in our friendly football Tourney.
Happy Thanksgiving and go Turkeys!
