You play to win the game. Unfortunately, the NFL does not see it quite like that and Donavan McNabb does not like it. Well, the Eagles had 4 quarters and an overtime period to try to put away the sorry Bengals, but they could not get the job done. Consequently we have the first tie of the season and as a result the game is a push in the K&S Football Tourney. What other games where a push this past weekend? Well, everyone took Indy over Houston, New Orleans over Kansas City, Miami over Oakland, the G-men over Baltimore, Carolina over Detroit, San Fran over St. Louis, and Pittsburgh over San Diego. That's seven points right there that the entire field had. The Chairman gets the pick of the week honors since he was the only person to pick the visiting Broncos to take the flight out of the Falcons. Although, I was a bit reluctant to give him this honor because I really liked the Cleveland Browns going into Buffalo last night a beating the Buffalo Bills. Although it was not spectacular, Brady Quinn was able to get his team a victory and his first W has a NFL starting quarterback. Bigdawgsfan and I were the only two in the crowd to call this shot.
The worst pick of the week goes to me for trying to pull the upset of Seattle beating the hot Arizona Cardinals. Seattle played decent against the Dolphins in Week 10 and I thought going back home and hosting the Cards, there might be a good chance for the Hawks to take down the Cardinals. Unfortunately for me, the fight in the air only led to the Seahawks falling to the ground hard.
Overall, Brady took home the week honors again by scoring 13 points. The past two weeks the Chairman has returned to his early-season form scoring the week highs. His total for the season is 109 points. Perry is in 2nd with 104 points. Several of us had 12 points in Week 11 while two had 10 points and one contestant had 9. To round out the top five, 3rd place is shared by Superbowl Seahawks and longhorns while 5th place is held by Chief Red Beard and bigdawgsfan. The rest of us have fallen behind by 10 points or more from the leader. We play to win the game. Don't give up yet, we still have 6 weeks left and much can happen from week to week. If you don't believe just check out Perry's progression from about week 6 to now. That's proof you can still win the game.
On a side note, it's Super Tuesday with college basketball starting. The TarHeels, the preseason #1 favorite, are getting ready to tip-off against Kentucky on ESPN. This is just about the best time for sports. NFL and the playoff hunt, college basketball starting, and college football teams fighting for bowl games and conference championships. Not only that but T-giving is right around the corner followed by X-mas and New Year's.
Go TarHeels!
