Week 9 Preview

What's up you Libertarians.

So the season is half-way over for some teams and will be on the down slope after this weekend.

Is it weird to anyone else that the bye weeks in the NFL come before the halfway point in the season? That just doesn't make any sense.

Speaking of not making sense, how is Chief Red Beard gaining on the Chairman and beating the rest of you losers? I mean this guy has never made it past Week 2 in four previous attempts and now he is in the hunt at the mid-way point. Things sure are a changing and the election isn't until next week.

Guarantees of the Week

Last week we missed on the second guarantee but hit on the first one. Of course due to a secretarial error the first guarantee wasn't clearly stated in the posting and no one corrected me on it because no one reads this stuff. So, you'll have to take me at my word that I was going to tell you to take the "under" in the Falcons game and that I was right.

That puts our yearly record at 11 – 3 for the weekly guarantees. Still a world class showing.

1st, Despite all the distraction and the fines and the virtually unbearable childish behavior, Plaxico Burress will still be the best receiver on the field in the Giants v Cowboys games this weekend. Look for Burress to be the top receiver in the Big Apple come Sunday.

2nd, Let's play the odds again. The Bengals are currently 8 point under-dogs to the Jags. I like the points here. The Bengals should be able to keep this game within the margin or error. (Side note - Why does Pres K continue to pick the Bengals? this team has killed him for years but he won't quit. I guess the captain has to go down with the ship.)

Game(s) of the Week

Packers at Titans – This game should be a good one with the Titans on a short week and the Packers being fully rested and healthy. I don't think that Aaron Rogers is quite ready to pull off a big road upset just yet though. The Titans will try to pound the ball and should have a lot of running room come the second half. Look for Pres K's 72 Dolphins to keep the champagne to stay on ice for another week as the Titans hold onto a tester.

Cardinals at Rams – This will be like going to a fraternity Halloween costume party: there will be guys scoring all over the place. Kurt Warner returns to the house that his right arm built and looks to put his team further ahead in their playoff hunt. While the Rams are looking like they might be the only competition left in the division. If the Rams defense plays well like they have the last 3 weeks then they will win and will be talking playoffs. Playoffs! Talking about playoffs!!?

Personal Advise (Tips for Winning at Life)

If your neighbor is running for the local school board and you put up a sign in your yard for her opponent don't expect to still get a friendly wave when passing on the street. Especially if your dogs may or may not have destroyed your neighbors pet rabbit's cage and ate the pet rabbit named Checkers.

So, if you care about your neighbors and you being on friendly terms then pick your battles wisely, not with campaign signs.
Your ballot may be secret but a campaign sign sticks out like, well, like a sign.

As always, I love you guys.

The Chairman

Okay, I did pick the Bengals last week in an upset pick, but they will not be on my winner's list this weekend. I have to wait until Palmer is healthy and returns to get back to form.

The other team that beats me up and leaves me out to dry is New Orleans. That team is like The Great American Scream Machine ride at Six Flags over GA, up and down, up and down…you get the picture.

I've been losing a lot of points with San Diego, which I'm guessing most of us have. Also, Indy is in this same column. I'm still a believer in Peyton and the Colts as you can tell by my picks. This team has an uphill battle during the second half, but I’ll probably be bubbling them in each week. Hence the reasons I’m not doing so well.

PS - Brady your "live better" messages crack me up...

cough syrup from college, expecting to be friendly neighbors with the enemy, in-law stories.

It just brings one question to mind: Do you ever think before acting?

It seems you are great at analyzing the problems after they occurred.

Keep it up, I like the true life stories.
