Week 8 Rewind

When I first looked at Week 8’s schedule I figured it was straight forward. I did not think there would be much variation in the pick’em scores and picks. Looking at the stats for the past weekend, the difference between the winner and loser was about the norm for the bye weeks at 3 units. The week high was 10 held by Mr. Perry and Longhorns while the week low was 7. A few of the participants made Week 8 about CHANCE while others made the week about CONSISTENCY. Consistency paid off for most.

Of those using their CHANCE card, BigDawgsFan had the most wins with 9. BigDawgsFan went against the odds and was the only person to pick Detroit over Washington (loss) and Miami over Buffalo (win). By the way, his pick of Miami over Buffalo is the PICK OF THE WEEK since he was the only person besides Chris Mortenson of ESPN to pick against the division leader Buffalo Bills. I’d rather be Fishin’ was the only person to choose Arizona over Carolina, and then he shared the pick of Atlanta over Philly with Stapleton. I also had two pick that did not serve up well. I had winless Cincy over Houston and then took Indy over Tennessee (so did BigDawgsFan). Even though Indy had some spark and showed signs of last year’s form, it was Tennessee’s defense with 4th Down stops and interceptions that was able to hold off the Colts. Anyway, chalk up two losses for me.

The Chairman was mediocre again this week with 8 points. Perry and Longhorns were able to get 2 points closer to the leader while Chief Red Beard, Scrappy and BigDawgsFan got 1 point closer. Even though I haven’t been heeding my own advice, I’m glad some are listening to me.

Overall, The Chairman is still at the top. Chief Red Beard is 3 points off and holds 2nd place. Covert Perry, who was 9 points back in Week 6 is now only 4 points out of first going into Week 9. He is in third place. The table below shows how the rest of the gang looks.

We now head into the 2nd Half of the season were anything can happen!
