Week 1 Rewind

The much anticipated NFL Week 1 is now over and the picture is a bit clearer. To the Chairman's point, it was a tough week for some of the K&S participants and good for others. Before getting a run-down of the league statistics, let us take a look at some facts we learned from this past weekend.
  • The Detroit Lions have no defense as the defensive unit let a new head coach, a rookie quarterback, and a new running back beat them down.
  • St. Louis is going to have a long season, while Donovan McNabb and his Eagles look like a team of old.
  • Oakland Raiders still look awful, to simply put it, while the Bengals are looking like last year's team...it's the gridiron gang that can't play.
  • To the Chairman's delight, the Panthers stunned the Chargers in sunny Cali and might just prove to be a contender.
  • Dallas demonstrated they may just have all their stars aligned to make a run for the Superbowl

In the Chairman's preview, he said it was all about the quarterbacks. Brett Favre has reassured himself, fans, and the J-E-T-S that he can still play the game as he played it last year. Aaron Rodgers took his first starting snap as the Packer's conductor. He proved he could drive the train and helped lift Green Bay over the Minnesota Vikings in the Monday night rivalry game. Many of you are Falcon fans, and would probably be upset if I did not give Matt Ryan any props. I will say this, he did not look like a rookie quarterback in the season opener. I would like you to share your comments of what you thought about Ryan and his first game.

Tourney Facts

Superbowl bound Seahawks (Stephen) took the gold for Week 1 with 11 points out of 16. What propelled him to the top? It was his NFL study, insight and picks. Two picks that helped distiguish him where choosing Baltimore over Cincy and Tennessee over Jacksonville - two outstanding picks.

As we have the leader, we have the losers of the week. A big thumbs down goes to me, Stapleton, and Longhorns (aka Puddin') with only getting half the games correct - Ouch! Picks like Pres K's Raiders over Denver, Longhorn and Stapleton's pick of Tampa Bay helped cast these three participants to the bottom. Better in Week 1 than Week 17.

Pick of the week -- BigDawgsFan (Daniel L.) by picking Brady's Carolina Panthers to beat the Chargers with only 2 seconds remaining on the clock. Heck of a game! Heck of a finish!

Alright, I have to bash everyone now because we were all losers by picking INDY and MINNESOTA. I understand the Indy pick, but not a single soul picking Green Bay at home baffles me.

Other games that everyone who picked picked were the NY Giants, Pitts, Philly, NY Jets, and New England.

As always, it is a pleasure bringing you the Week Rewind. Be on the look out for the Week 2 Review coming towards the end of the week.

Don't be shy, tell us what you took away from Week 1 by posting a comment.

Thanks for reading.
