Week 1 Preview

Here is your first weekly preview.

Week 1 is always one of the toughest weeks to pick. It is a lot like picking a wife without seeing her mother first. You just don't know if they are going to blow up like a blimp or remain about the same as they look now.

The season kicks off this week with the reigning champs at home for their last season in Giant's Stadium on Thursday night. Plenty of fireworks and loud songs and dances will be around the game but the football might be a little suspect. I am looking forward to this game because it is the beginning of another NFL season but I don't expect it to be the game of the week.

Games of the Week
I have 3 games that I expect to be great for the viewing audiences this week.

1st - Dallas at Cleveland. Hopefully Cleveland's prized passer has cleaned out all the cob webs from that nasty preseason concussion and will be able to play. With these two offenses going at each other on a warm summer afternoon I expect to see a winning score close to 40 points.

2nd - Carolina at San Diego. This game should be a lot closer than you are thinking. The Chargers are going to have to find creative ways to get LT the ball because the Panthers defense is going to be a top 5 type unit. The Panthers will struggle on offense a little themselves without Smith so this could come down to a last second scoring attempt.

3rd - Minnesota at Green Bay. There has never been any more pressure on a 4th year veteran starting their first game on opening day than there is on Aaron Rogers. Rogers is going to face one of the best defenses in the league and will be crushed like a watermelon at a Gallagher show. I can't wait to see Green Bay's hopes and dreams fall apart like a Firestone tire on a Ford.

News and Notes
It's all about the quarterbacks.

- Bret Favre is going to be in Miami, playing for the Jets!

- The top quarterbacks in all of the universe didn't play in the preseason and there has been some speculation as to their readiness for the opener. (Tom Brady and Peyton Manning)

- Green Bay, Atlanta, Baltimore, and possibly Cleveland could all have quarterbacks starting their first game ever this week.

Tips for Picks
Here is a hint from a two time, reigning K&S Football Tourney Champion to help you in week 1.

- Generally new quarterbacks and new coaches have a tough time in week 1. While veteran heavy teams generally play well in week one and then fade in mid-season before regrouping for a late season charge.

The most important thing you can do to have a chance to compete in this competition is to make picks. You never pick a game right if you don't make a pick. So, log into your yahoo account and click some buttons.

I really want to see the Jets visiting Miami game, Brett Favre verses former Jet Chad Pennington. It should be a good game, plus we will get to see how Favre looks after coming back from retirement. Hopefully, Miami's running game will be on, as they will need it to win.

The toss up game of the week for me is Denver at Oakland. Who do you pick?

Well, the Jet's at Miami was a good game. To my point, Miami's running game did not show up and they lost.

My toss up game of the week was only a toss up to me, and I lost the toss. Everyone picked Denver except me. Duh!

It looks like other's agree with the post about Miami's running game.
